Rare blends creativity with technical innovation as a British video game developer. Tim and Chris Stamper founded the company in 1985 and earned acclaim by creating genre-defining titles like Donkey Kong Country, GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, and Perfect Dark. Microsoft acquired Rare in 2002 and integrated it into Xbox Game Studios. Rare continues to develop original experiences, including Sea of Thieves, and currently builds Everwild, a visually stunning game set in a magical, mysterious world.
