Compaq was an American computer company known for its innovative portable PCs and early dominance in the personal computer market. Founded in 1982, it became a major competitor to IBM, pioneering industry-standard computing. HP acquired Compaq in 2002, integrating its technology and brand into its own product lineup. While the Compaq name has largely faded, its legacy remains in the evolution of modern computing and the development of affordable, high-performance personal computers.
